The basic style bungalows, built by the hosting family as part of their home, are the perfect place for guests seeking an authentic local experience and a chance to live like a Papuan. While the accommodations are very simple, they provide the basic amenities you'll need for your stay.

The bungalows are built using locally sourced materials, such as wood, bamboo, palm leaf roofing, etc...

As far as the interior design goes, you will have a sponge mattress usually on the floor, if you are lucky it will come with a bed frame, one mosquito net above the bed, some very basic storage area such as a shelf, or little table and that's it.

Usually the bathroom facilities are located just a short walk away from the bungalows. Please bring a torch for your night visits and be aware that the toilets are normally squat toilets, not the western style toilets. There is a big bucket filled with fresh ground water for your dip wash. Please be sure to keep the bucket clean and do not contaminate it with dirt or soapy water. Additionally, please bring your own towel as they do not provide them.

Electricity doesn't run for 24 hours a day. Depending where you will be staying, you might just get a few hours charging time for all your gadgets, while your host runs their generator for a few hours after sunset. On our island you can get reliable electricity running from 6pm till 6am every day.

The homestay accommodation prices varies between 550.000 IDR (33EU) to 700.000 IDR (42EU) per person per night depending on where you will be staying. The price always includes  3 meals, unlimited water, tea and local coffee. 

Hopefully you like fish! That will be on the menu quite often since people around here are mostly fishermen. Rice, noodles, vegetables, occasional chicken dishes what you can expect during your stay. You might get the same type of food but cooked in different styles! Remember they have very limited resources but they will do their best to make you happy. Tell your host if you don't like spicy food before they prepare your meal. Vegans will not have trouble either, just let your host known about it!

Please note that we do not pick up guests from other homestays for diving if they also have their own diving center. Getting to Pam Divers has never been easier. For those diving with us and staying within 3km from our island, we offer convenient pick-up services for a fee of 100.000 IDR per person. If you prefer, you can arrange your own transfer with your homestay host. For those who are staying further away, please reach out to us ahead of time to learn more about our transfer fees.
